Meet Our Team
Diana Martini, DVM
Dr. Martini is the medical director at Stone Ridge Veterinary Hospital. She started her career with Monroe Veterinary Associates as an Animal Care Assistant at Pittsford Animal Hospital in 2003. In 2009, she moved on to attend Ross University of Veterinary Medicine, where she graduated with Highest Honors in 2012. She completed her clinical year at Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. Her professional interests include internal medicine and surgery.
Dr. Martini has three dogs, two Border Collie mixes and one mixed breed which came home from the Caribbean with her, and two cats. In her spare time she enjoys running, dog agility, and hiking.
Samantha Lovering, DVM
Dr. Samantha Lovering is an associate veterinarian at Stone Ridge Veterinary Hospital. Dr. Lovering earned her bachelor's degree in biological sciences with a concentration in animal physiology from Cornell University. She then went on to complete her doctorate of veterinary medicine at Cornell University. While in veterinary school, Dr. Lovering completed externships at Animal Medical Center, Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group in Brooklyn, Blue Pearl and Oradell Animal Hospital.
Dr. Lovering has a special interest in One Health, the idea that the health of humans, animals, and the environment are inextricably linked. She spent time volunteering at Cornell's local healthy pet clinic for low-income families. Through her experience at the clinic and the fulfillment she derived from helping people and their pets, she became inspired to pursue a career in companion animal medicine.
In her free time, Dr. Lovering enjoys traveling, scrapbooking, CrossFit training, and exercising with Willy. Willy is a miniature poodle that she and Michael, her partner, provide a loving home for. Michael is the CEO of a food technology startup called Farther Farms.
Kelli A. Smith, DVM
Dr. Smith grew up in Rochester, NY. She graduated in 2009 from R.I.T with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. Dr. Smith went on to attend Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine where she graduated in 2013 with a Doctor in Veterinary Medicine. Her professional interests include shelter medicine, emergency medicine, internal medicine and surgery.
Dr. Smith began working with animals in 2008 at the Seneca Park Zoo in Rochester, NY, as an intern. Since then, she has continued to work with animals through many different jobs, externships and volunteer positions.
In her free time, Dr. Smith enjoys photography, running and tennis. She shares her home with a cat named Steve and a border collie named Reid.
Hospital Business Manager
Brittany Insell is the Hospital Business Manager for Stone Ridge Veterinary Hospital. Brittany is originally from Georgia but moved to Rochester in September 2017 with her husband. Shortly afterwards, she joined Monroe Veterinary Associates!
She is new to the animal care industry but has learned a lot working in the hospital. Brittany finds it especially rewarding to work with a team that has such a passion for animals. Every day is a little different and while Brittany and the team don’t get to play with puppies and kittens as often as you may think, when they do, it really makes the day great!
Brittany and her husband have three fur babies: Milo, a 5 year old rescue dog, Theodore, a four year old red-headed Golden Retriever, and their newest addition, Ziggy, an eight month old rescue kitten. Brittany has found many cool, new things involved in being a first time cat mom!
When she’s not having fun with her pets, you’ll find her exploring her new city, finding places to take her dogs, and reading while her husband fishes.
Licensed Veterinary Technician Supervisor/Animal Care Assistant Supervisor
Deirdre Santos is the licensed veterinary technician and animal care assistant supervisor at Stone Ridge Veterinary Hospital. She finds working at Stone Ridge to be very rewarding. Deirdre enjoys being able to help her patients and their owners with high quality and compassionate care. It's also a great feeling when she finds solutions to different challenges the day may bring.
A member of the staff since 2006, Deirdre holds a bachelor's degree in biology from the Rochester Institute of Technology and an associate's degree in veterinary technology from SUNY Delhi. She is also Fear Free Level 1 Certified. She has been involved in the animal care industry since 1995!
Deirdre has a cat named DaVinci who was born in 2005, a cat named Hobie Cat who was born in 2010, and a Labrador Retriever named Layla who was born in 2014. Deirdre races Thistle and Sunfish class sailboats competitively as a member of the Rochester Canoe Club. Her regatta competitions offer many opportunities for travel. She also enjoys camping, fishing, playing board games with her family and racing sailboats both with, and against, her husband, Doug!
Client Service Representative Supervisor
Born in Sidney, New York, and raised in Bliss, New York, Carla joined Monroe Veterinary Associates in November 2010, but she has been working in the animal-related field since 2007. As the CSR supervisor, she takes the most pleasure in working with pets and clients.
"I have always loved animals. Being able to work in an environment where I am able to enjoy the interactions with clients and their pets is very rewarding," she said. Carla has a Golden Retriever named KC’s Bailey.
During her free time, Carla spends time with friends and family and doing a variety of activities, such as boating, long walks, gardening, taking vacations to the Adirondacks, sitting by the campfire and canoeing with friends. She has three grandchildren, two daughters, two son-in-laws and resides with her significant other, Kevin.
Ruth Carini, CPDT-KA
Ruth Carini is the kennel supervisor at Stone Ridge Veterinary Hospital. She has worked in the animal care industry since 2009.
Ruth likes helping nervous or aggressive pets become more comfortable boarding and loves working with her dedicated and passionate team.
Ruth also spends a fair amount of time with pets outside of the hospital. She recently passed the rigorous testing to become a certified pet dog trainer (CPDT-KA) Ruth is also an AKC CGC/S.T.A.R. puppy evaluator and handler of a TDI certified therapy dog named Kirby. She also shows her dogs in various canine sports.
Ruth has a small menagerie of her own including five dogs (Hope, Kirby, Rigby, Brady, Samus), three cats (Sheena, Syndra, Yang), rats, bearded dragons, geckos, and a Russian tortoise. When she isn’t working with animals, Ruth likes to read, collect comics, and play video games.
Brittany is a full-time CSR here at Stone Ridge. She was born and raised in Spencerport. She has been working in the animal care industry for three years and started working for Monroe Veterinary Associates in April 2016. Brittany genuinely enjoys helping all the animals she sees. She loves working with her team to solve problems, bringing the best experience possible to her clients, and ultimately creating a great relationship with her clients and their pets.
Brittany has three cats named Bane, Paisley and Monty and a dog named Eli, who is half Australian Shepard and half Border Collie. She likes to spend her free time playing frisbee with Eli and teaching him new tricks. When she's not doing that, you can find her snuggling with her cats, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.
