Our Diagnostic Tools
At Stone Ridge Veterinary Hospital, we use advanced imaging technology to identify and treat health problems in your pet. We also maintain an in-house laboratory, which allows us to obtain results quickly and efficiently.
Our team uses ultrasound technology to provide a thorough examination of your pet’s internal health. Ultrasounds are valuable when we need to monitor real-time organ or blood activity. Exams are noninvasive, require no chemicals, and can provide images from various angles quickly and easily. Ultrasound technology is often used to evaluate the abdominal region as well as the chest, heart, and any suspicious masses.
At Stone Ridge Veterinary Hospital, we also use radiographs (x-rays) to help us examine your pet. To produce this image, x-ray beams are passed through the body and are captured by a detector (digital or film) on the other side. X-rays are especially useful to show changes in bone, irregular shapes in the abdomen, or the presence of foreign objects. Common reasons we may recommend an x-ray include the occurrence of broken bones, suspected injuries, or to confirm a pregnancy.
One of the most important diagnostic tools at our disposal are digital x-rays. Digital technology allows us to examine and distribute images much more quickly and requires less radiation than conventional methods. Similar to the emergence of digital photography, the use of digital imaging is a significant advancement in veterinary care, and we are proud to offer this service to our clients.
